Dental Health Tips in Lakeland, FL
There is no substitute for getting solid dental health advice that is pertinent to you from your regular dentist. However, there are still standard things everyone should know about taking care of their teeth. Here are a few dos and don’ts that can help you maintain good oral health at any age.

  • Do replace your toothbrush regularly. You probably already know that you should change your toothbrush at least four times each year. What you may not know is that there are two other times you should replace it even if it hasn’t been three or four months. The first is replace it if you notice the brush is frayed. It isn’t doing its job properly once that happens. The other time is after you’ve had a cold or the flu. The germs that can be on your toothbrush can get you sick all over again as well as cause an oral infection.
  • Don’t whiten your teeth without talking to a dentist. Not everyone is a good candidate for teeth whitening and if you go overboard, you could cause a lot of harm to your teeth and your gums. Your dentist can advise you on the safest way to get the white smile you desire.
  • Do make an appointment if you experience pain or tingling. Tooth sensitivity can turn into pain if not managed in the right way, and toughing it out when you have pain just isn’t a nice way to go through life. It is also a given that any situation that is going on is likely to get worse if you delay.
